Los Angeles - Organizer arrested and cited for painting ADA and CA code compliant crosswalk where they should already exist

𝕵𝖔𝖓𝖆𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖓 𝕳𝖆𝖑𝖊 on Instagram: "Today, I got arrested and cited for painting a crosswalk. We’ve been painting code-compliant, but unpermitted crosswalks to protest for safer streets and a better government. Back in September, I met with the mayor’s office in the wake of a tragic incident where bureaucratic ineptitude caused a child’s needless death. The mayor’s office made it clear they opposed our actions and doubled down on defending the status quo. Since then I’ve made it clear to them that we won’t stop unless they publicly condemn us, or take tangible steps to make our streets safer. They’ve done neither and continued to ignore us, just like they ignore the trauma and violence that they have allowed through their apathy and incompetence. And today, I got arrested. Now, the city will have to spend taxpayer dollars removing our half-finished crosswalk when this whole situation could have been avoided if the mayor’s office didn’t choose to ignore an issue where people’s lives are at stake. Please share this video to demand change. This isn’t the end of our work, it’s only the beginning."
