Goal of the sanctions was to fund US oil/lng extortion profits so that they could fund GOP and climate denial. PPP GDP is not really boosted by currency devaluation. Even if costs are stable in Rubles, the GDP is in USD, and Russia has had high inflation due to high military pay, and labour needing high wages as alternative to joining military.

Key part missing from article is what happened to their parents. Presumably, if prosecution is honest, the kids were in fact not born here, and so are not citizens by birthright. Cruelty and unfairness as a point, does not make facts relevant. Were parents abducted without opportunity to take their children? If no due process, or even DOJ intervention in cases, then its not the jack booted thug ordered to send a parent to a death camp, that will pause the order to go pick up the kids from school, not that the parents would want kids in the death camp.
Story is horrible. Maybe the answer to what happened to parents would make it seem less horrible on US fascism angle. Maybe the fascism is so intense that no one is told what happened to the parents.
A much better deal than handing $5M to US Government. Just buy or start a restaurant, theoretically returning a fair ROI. But losing less than $5M should be easy.

that is the problem. Deport as much mass as possible. Guidance around "deportation of criminals" can mean more "mass" if defined as any objectionable/unknown tattoo, instead of a narrower mandate of specific known gang affiliation tattoos. That would still be a problem in that a tattoo is not a criminal conviction.
to be clear, I don't like the argument that "culling chickens is best for the chickens, from an animal cruelty perspective". I understand that culling chickens is best to not have chickens that survive or have no symptoms but still spread bird flu to other animals and humans. Be honest about "necessary" murders, is a pet peeve of mine.
The rebuttals for a pilot included that if you cull the whole flock, when signs of avian flu in part of the flock, then you are killing all of the chickens humanely instead of the large majority dying in pain from likely getting the flu. You are the chicken whose death is being decided from above.
I still don't like the everyone get measles version of this.

"pilot with safe perimeter" seems reasonable, as long as safe perimeter works. Bird flu is endemic already, afaik. = "will remain a constant presence". It only makes sense for domestic chickens/fowls. It is not endemic yet in other animals/humans, and maximum quick containment seems like only approach to keep it that way.
Bird flu not being a problem in countries that have smaller flocks, seems a transformative solution.
I didn't like the rebuttals in my link above. One of them says that the best thing for you/chickens is "to have a central authority decide to cull you minimizing for a balance of cost and your pain, instead of giving you the chance/choice of either surviving, or far more likely, suffering before death." I would choose the 2nd option, but can only do so under central authority that has already decided what it prefers.

Government demanding backdoors is common even when it results in hackers, and foreign agents, finding and exploiting them. The forward thinking component of our government is not as important as maximum control value. The most dangerous car for this application is one that is pure drive by wire, without completely mechanical brake pedal/steering, that further overrides any signal to "wire control" for steering/power input.
Over the air updates is a possible vector for backdoor control, but the FSD feature of summoning vehicle from parking spot to front door, is an RC control feature. Just as key fobs get "cloned", security is not foolproof. The ultra discrete assassination power makes backdoors/hacking features very valuable.
